Radio Waves Goodbye to Poor Compost.

Visitors to The Composting Association Fair at the National Motorcycle Museum in November will be able to see how Gemini Data Loggers has helped to improve the composting process so much that the quality consistently meets specifications that virtually guarantee top market prices per ton.

Three sites are now up and running for ORM Eco-Pod, utilising Gemini’s new wireless technology for composting with a revolutionary RF transmitter system which sends real time data direct to a specially developed version of their Tinytag Explorer Software.
Temperature fluctuations are spotted immediately which enable instant remedial action to automatically turn the aeration systems on or off as necessary. This ensures that the composting conditions are optimised throughout the duration of the process – a fundamental condition for licensing authorities.

Having just received the Environment Agency licence for compost production, owner David Wynne is delighted with his system. “We need to record data both for the audit trail and for our own management purposes. The radio monitoring system provides a huge labour saving and the real time data allows us to take immediate action. This means that we can effectively control far larger sites with total accuracy particularly at crucial times such as the changing of feed stock. We’re looking forward to running this system on all of our other sites”.

Flexibility is the key.

Whilst radio data loggers may be the future of large scale farm compost production, Gemini’s more conventional self-contained and battery operated loggers offer answers to many industry problems. For instance, the Tinytag loggers are robust enough to be used in ‘In-Vessel’ environments without fear of damage or loss of data. Windrow and Convectional processes are also perfectly suited to Tinytags, again ensuring uniformity of quality and conformity to licensing criteria.

Roger Banks is the MD of Dry It Out who supplies bespoke testing and monitoring systems for a number of applications across the UK and Europe. “We use Gemini’s Tinytag data loggers which are compact, portable and waterproof. They are integrated with our purpose-built probes and used extensively in our In-Vessel and Windrow composting systems”.

Ian Gander, Sales Director for Gemini said, “The secret of our success is to be able to listen to the individual needs of our customers and to develop and produce bespoke solutions to their requirements. This demonstrates the versatility of Gemini’s impressive portfolio which can help many businesses, even at entry level to the industry.”

You can discuss these issues and more on stand 23 at the National Motorcycle Museum on November 30th and December 1st and pick up Gemini’s latest specific brochure.
