Stand-Alone Loggers Provide Integrated and Rigorous Solutions

Whilst radio data loggers may be the future of large scale farm compost production, Gemini’s conventional self-contained and battery operated loggers offer answers to many industry problems. For instance, the Tinytag loggers are robust enough to be used in ‘in-vessel’ environments without fear of damage or loss of data. Windrow and Convectional processes are also perfectly suited to Tinytags, again ensuring uniformity of quality and conformity to licensing criteria.

In Windrow composting systems, temperature monitoring is required to help determine the optimum turning time for quicker compost production. Roger Banks, MD of Dry-it-Out Limited, uses his company’s own purpose-built probes combined with Gemini’s Tinytag loggers when supplying bespoke monitoring systems across the UK and Europe. “As the loggers are battery powered, they are totally self-sufficient and ideal for remote logging. We also use them as they are compact, portable and waterproof. They integrate excellently with our custom probes and are used extensively in our In-Vessel and Windrow composting systems”.

Dry-it-Out limited also use the Tinytag Radio system for their in-vessel bespoke solutions.

Island Waste Services is another company using Tinytag loggers for its in-vessel systems. Temperature control is complex due to the hostile environment and it is even more of a challenge to meet PAS 100. Island Waste Services’ John Hammond explains, “Despite the fact that our compost is used to reduce landfill, we are nonetheless required to meet the same standards as an organic compost that will be sold on, which is incredibly difficult when using an in-vessel process. Most loggers are unable to withstand the rigorous movements, so we use Tinytag Splash, which Gemini is continually developing. ”
