What is BS EN 12830?

BS EN 12830:1999 tests the performance and suitability of temperature recorders for the transport, storage and distribution of chilled, frozen, deep-frozen/quick-frozen food and ice cream.

What tests are performed for BS EN 12830?

The following, independent, tests have been carried out to find the BS EN 12830 rating of a unit:

  • Determination of temperature measurement error 
  • Determination of response time
  • Determination of time recording error
  • Influence of ambient temperature
  • Temperature testing under storage and transport conditions
  • Shock resistance test at 10g for 10mS (Half sine pulse)
  • Mechanical Vibrations -5 to 8.6Hz @ 10mm, 8.6 to 150Hz @ 3g, 20 sweeps per axis @ 1 octave/min

Additionally, units are also tested in accordance with BS EN 60529 for the following:

  • IP6X dust ingress tests
  • IPX5 Water ingress tests

Are Tinytag Data Loggers and Accessories RoHS Compliant?

All Tinytag data loggers and accessories, with the exception of the Tinytag Plus Intrinsically Safe range of data loggers, are RoHS compliant and have been since serial number SN 500,000 in early 2008.
