Trouble Shooting
Having a problem with your Tinytag data logger or accessory? You may find the answer here.
When you plug in a USB cable or inductive pad, Windows should automatically run a Hardware Installation Wizard.
If this doesn't run, you should go to your Device Manager (Start Button >> Control Panel >> System >> Hardware and Device Manager) and look up the Ports entry.
If there is an entry listed as USB Serial Port, your cable has already installed and you should use the COM port number listed to set the correct communication port in Tinytag Explorer, as described in the user guide for your product.
If there isn't a USB Serial Port listed, look for an unknown device with a yellow question mark next to it.
If one is present, right click on the device, select the properties option, the driver tab and click on the Update Driver button.
When prompted, do not allow Windows to connect to the internet, instead you should direct the hardware wizard to search the CD you have been provided with.
Once the cable drivers have been installed, the device may still be listed with a yellow question mark against it.
If this is the case, repeat the above process again to set the device up as a COM port.
If this works, the device should move to the Ports section where it will be listed with a COM port number.
You should now set the correct communication port in Tinytag Explorer as described in the user guide for your product.
