Rugged Tinytag temperature data loggers monitor drug and alcohol testing laboratory
Robust, industrial Tinytag data loggers are used across drug and alcohol testing laboratory Cansford Laboratories to monitor ambient room conditions, refrigerators, and freezers.
Eight Tinytag Plus 2 temperature data loggers are used across the laboratory, office, fridges, and freezers. Monitoring the temperatures of samples stored in fridges, as well as ambient room conditions, aids compliance with the business’ Quality Management System and ISO 17025:2017 standards.
Cansford Laboratories is a pioneer in drug and alcohol testing. Working within the family legal sector, the laboratory carries out drug and alcohol testing for workplaces, governments, and individuals. Cansford Laboratories tests hair, nails, oral fluid, and dried blood spots for the presence of drugs and alcohol.
Samples are stored in refrigerators throughout different processes of analysis and quality control. The temperature must be monitored to ensure that it remains within the set acceptance criteria for sample storage to comply with the company's Quality Management System and laboratory standard ISO 17025:2017.
Tinytag Plus 2 data loggers (TGP-4017) with built-in temperature sensors are used on site to monitor temperatures within the fridges and freezers to ensure compliance with the specific storage temperatures required and Cansford Laboratories' internal standard operating procedure (SOP). Strict internal validations are in place for the stability of samples and solutions, adhering to the ISO 17025:2017 Laboratory Accreditation.
The objective of placing Tinytags is to monitor the ambient room temperatures, especially that of the laboratory, as the equipment (including several LC-MS-MS systems) produces a significant amount of heat while running. The data gathered also provides the opportunity to examine and validate the performance of air conditioning systems and how well they maintain constant temperatures. This monitoring is also a requirement for the ISO 17025:2017 accreditation.
Tinytag Plus 2 data loggers were chosen for this monitoring due to a range of factors. The loggers have a wide temperature range (-40 to +85°C), meaning that they are conveniently interchangeable between the required monitoring locations. They are also compact and durable, making them ideal for unobtrusive use across the laboratory, office, fridges and freezers.
