How To Use Your TinyTag Data Logger

Positioning - Applications Deployment

Tinytag Data Loggers have a wide variety of applications, so choosing the best position for the logger can greatly depend on the application for which it is intended. However, there are a few general tips to help you choose the best location:

The most important factor to consider when placing your logger is to choose a location where the temperature is stable.

Loggers that are to be used in fridges or freezers are best placed in the centre of the fridge, on the middle shelf (ideally with the product), as this location gives the most accurate readings. If the logger is placed at the back of the fridge, or in the door, the readings taken may be falsely low or high.

For loggers measuring ambient temperature (such as an office room temperature), ensure that the logger is not near any open doors or windows, next to radiators, or in direct sunlight, as this could cause the logger to record incorrect high or low values.

When measuring temperatures above 85°C, an external probe must be used. The logger must be kept below 85°C to ensure correct operation (see the individual unit's data sheets for more information).

Shock and vibration loggers must be firmly attached to the application they are measuring - if they can move relative to the application, they may generate false readings.

Loggers measuring humidity must be placed in a location where they are unlikely to come into contact with excess moisture (like dew, frost, condensation etc).
